The Problem with Traditional CBD
CBD’s biggest problem is low solubility. Traditional CBD capsules and soft gels have a bioavailability of around 6%. For every 100mg of CBD you consume, your body only uses 6mg. Therefore, you waste a staggering 94mg! Your body is simply unable to absorb it. CBD is hydrophobic, it repels water. Since your body is mostly water, you can see the problem.
Interestingly, this review of studies summed it up rather well, ‘whilst CBD has been shown to treat a range of symptoms, more bioavailable molecules need to be developed in order to harness the full therapeutic potential of cannabinoid molecules.’ Our CBD Capsules use the latest nano-technology, a proven method to increase bioavailability.
CBD Capsules vs CDB Oil
CBD Oil tinctures are the most popular way to take CBD. The extract dissolves in a carrier oil, usually MCT. Then, using a dropper, you place drops under the tongue. Here, it absorbs into the blood and the bioavailability increases to around 13-19%. However, these are the drawbacks…
- Hard to get an accurate dose with the dropper.
- Have to place dose in the correct area to achieve maximum absorption, easy to waste an expensive product.
- To achieve the best possible levels of absorption you need to hold the oil under your tongue for up to 3 minutes. Who has 3 minutes to waste these days?! Not only is this inconvenient, but it also can seem like an eternity with the bitter foul-tasting oil in your mouth.
Mondo CBD Water Soluble capsules offer solutions.
- We premeasure each dose inside the capsule.
- Just swallow the capsule with some water, no possibility of wastage.
- No messing around, just one capsule to be taken daily. Water soluble CBD has been shown to have a 8x increase of bioavailability on CBD oil capsules and 2.5x increase on CBD Oil tinctures.
Our CBD Capsules use the latest nano-technology, a proven method to increase bioavailability.
Mondo CBD Water Soluble Capsules each contain 40mg of Broad Spectrum CBD plant extract
Each capsule contains 40mg of Broad Spectrum CBD, so you can benefit from the Entourage Effect. It’s made from industrial hemp in Colorado, USA and supplied by the largest hemp biomass farmer in the world. You can trace all our products from seed to shelf.
The journey starts in Southern Colorado farm land. Next, a patent pending, catalyst free extraction method processes the hemp. The process preserves virtually all the valuable Cannabinoids and terpenes. Additionally, this eliminates THC, chlorophyll and other unwelcome compounds. The patent pending water soluble technology then turns it into capsules, that we deliver to your front door. It’s CBD at the cutting edge of science. Two patent pending processes transform the organic southern Colorado hemp into a capsule delivered to your door.
You can complement CBD capsules perfectly with CBD vape juice.
Why do people take CBD?
CBD has exploded in popularity over the last few years. Why? CBD has been the subject of so many studies. Most of these studies point to health benefits. The World Health Organization (WHO) conducted an extensive review into CBD. The review centres on therapeutic uses and also possible dangers of CBD use. The report states studies show potential to treat a wide range of medical conditions. Including;
- Alzheimer’s disease
- Parkinson’s disease
- Multiple sclerosis
- Inflammatory diseases
- Rheumatoid arthritis
Further detail on CBD studies can be found on our CBD Knowledge page, so be sure to check that out. The WHO found that CBD ‘is generally well tolerated with a good safety profile’ and ‘no evidence of any public health related problems associated with the use of CBD’.
CBD Capsules FAQ’s
What are the different types of CBD capsules?
There are a variety of CBD capsules available. Most common form is soft gels, where CBD oil is encapsulated in a gelatine outer shell, and are similar in appearance to a traditional cod liver oil supplement. CBD powder can also be packed into hard gelatine capsules, these have the appearance of your usual two colour capsule, commonly used in generic paracetamol products. It is also possible to compress CBD powder into tablets. Whatever the form of capsule/tablet the purpose is the same, to deliver CBD into your bloodstream. The biggest difference in CBD capsules is the whether the compound is water soluble or not. Around 6% of the CBD will end up in your bloodstream with standard CBD, water soluble CBD increases this by between 131% and 300%.
What are the side effects of CDB capsules?
There are no known serious adverse reactions to CBD capsules. The World Health Organisation have concluded that there are no known health risks. However, if you are taking any prescribed medication, please consult your doctor before using any CBD product. A study found CBD to inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme system. This can reduce your bodies ability to metabolise SSRI’s. This could cause a build up in your system and potentially be dangerous. Grapefruit has the same effect, which is why you should avoid grapefruit juice when taking SSRI’s. If you are pregnant or breast feed the current advice from the Food Standards Agency is to avoid CBD. They also do not recommend exceeding 70mg per day.
Do CBD capsules work?
This question is still the subject of clinical studies. Countless studies point to many potential therapeutic benefits of CBD. It is the active ingredient in two licenced medicines. Whilst research is ongoing, there is mountains of compelling anecdotal evidence CBD works for many people. Studies have shown CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system. This system plays a large role in balancing bodily processes. CBD has also been shown to reduce activity in the amygdala. This part of the brain is responsible for the fight or flight response which is prevalent in anxiety disorders.
How many CBD capsules should I take?
This depends on many factors. All CBD is not equal. Depending on why you are taking CBD you may need to vary the dose to get the desired effects. Water soluble CBD has been shown in studies to be at least 8x more effective than traditional CBD capsules. So, you need to take a smaller amount to get the same dose. If you want to achieve the effective dose shown in clinical trials (300mg) with traditional CBD capsules you would need to exceed the recommended daily limit (70mg) by the FSA. However, as water soluble CBD is more bioavailable you would only need to take a dose of around 40-45mg. This would deliver the same amount of CBD into your bloodstream.
What time of day should I take CBD Capsules?
This depends on what you are trying to achieve. For example, if you are taking CBD because you have read studies have shown it can help with sleep problems then taking at night, around 45 minutes before bed may be the best time. Alternatively, if you are taking it because studies have shown it helps with anxiety, then the morning may be the best time. Anecdotal evidence suggests that acute anxiety sufferers can take up to 3 capsules per day. Although, you would need to check the current FSA guidelines for daily CBD consumption. CBD effects different people in different ways, trial and error is required for individual cases.
